I Shot the-- Performance?

As much as I haven't been into watching American Idol since Season 5... I will say I've formed quite an attachment to Jason Castro this season.
Which is why I was disappointed to see him get voted off from the Top 4 the other night.
He's different, his style of music is different (some might say it's too slow), and always important-- hes just a happy guy and seems to just like to have fun without all the "fluff".

One of his last performances on the show 'I shot the Sheriff'...
Simons comment on it "The arrangement was atrocious... The performance and the singing were as bad as ive ever heard. That is a song that should not be touched"

I found his performance to be fun. I thought the arrangements with the horns were great, and he also connected well with the audience.
I will agree that his voice seemed a bit weak for it and his pitch gotta a little strange in some areas, but if I was standing in the audience, I would have had a great time getting right into it.

But the judges can only ever think "Well, you'll never be as good as Bob Marley, or Whitney Houston, so why are you trying to sing it?"
Well, maybe they're not... but they're gonna try!
he did. he "failed". thats life. 50/50.
